An animal rights group wants organizers of Pennsylvania's Groundhog Day festival to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a robotic stand-in.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it's unfair to keep the animal in captivity and subject him to the huge crowds and bright lights that accompany tens of thousands of revelers each Feb. 2 in Punxsutawney, a tiny borough about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. PETA is suggesting the use of an animatronic model.
But William Deeley, president of the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, says the animal is "being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania." The groundhog is kept in a climate-controlled environment and is inspected annually by the state Department of Agriculture.
Deeley says PETA isn't interested in Phil from Feb. 2 on, and is looking for publicity.

Wanted dead or alive!
This man is trying to kill me! This is Shaun T from Insanity. He is also famous for hip hop abs, so I am told. There is no hip hop in the Spandex King. Anyway, back to Insanity. The Queen and I have completed two weeks of the program and it is not getting any easier for me. The Queen says it is for her. The Queen is making me stick to the program but it is hard! So two weeks down and six to go and I'm sure I will look just like Shaun T. I may have to change my blog to Spandex K!

Is there a head on the front? If so, how many?
Check out this piece of fur! Whewy mamma. The Queen has to have one of those! It comes from the website, "People of Walmart"!
So I wonder can a person purchase this at Walmart? Can it be purchased in a store? Or is it one of those made to order one of a kind items? Maybe I'd better start doing me some coon huntin so I can get one made.

My best of the year!
Had my best night of bowling for the year. Games of 237-254-245 for a 736 series! Had 23 strikes, 9 spares and one open frame. The one open frame was a split in the first frame of the second game. Then had the next eight in a row. Still need to work on that hair! Gotta love the Big Earn!
One more and I'm ready for sum huntin!
MADISON, Wis. - Authorities arrested nearly a dozen drunken hunters during Wisconsin's November gun deer hunt.
A state Department of Natural Resources report says 11 people were arrested for going armed while intoxicated in the field during the nine-day season.
Five of them had been arrested for at least one alcohol-related offense in the past. One of them had multiple arrests for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Cancelled! Due to snow and cold!
From the Salt Lake Tribune:
A downtown protest of the climate change talks in Copenhagen became a victim of Wednesday's snowstorm.
"Not many people showed up because of the blizzard conditions," said organizer Clea Major, an international studies student at the University of Utah.
It didn't take long for the six friends to pack up a bullhorn and posters they'd planned to use for their "scream-in," an outlet for their frustration about the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks earlier this month to curb the pollution blamed for climate change.
Still, they chatted with a few passers-by during the commuter-hour protest near the Gateway, and explained that, blizzard aside, climate change is expected to bring chaos to the global climate, said Major.
She called Wednesday evening's effort a success and possibly the first in a series. As for the snow, it's not entirely new; a protest she attended last year in Washington, D.C., suffered a similar fate.
"There is always the irony element," Major said.

Badger Hockey!
Started the new year by traveling to Madison to watch the Badgers play some hockey! It was a great time and the Badgers won 5-4. We took the "wolf pack", Jayde's group of friends to the game. Six in all.
On the workout front the Queen and I have finished our first week of Insanity. It's hard. More to come.

What doesn't kill ya? Will make you stronger!
The Queen and I are doing the Insanity workout program. What a killer! I was going to do the P90X program but decided to start with this. It's a KILLER! I have the flexibilty of a 2x4 so stretching is really important to me. Hoping to drop some pounds, gain some flexibilty and get stronger. Did I mention it's a killer? It is!
