Black Friday! A Very Black Friday!

Black Friday took on an entire new meaning this year. I have had a ton of foot problems since August and my aerobic activity has, um, been a little off. Actually my entire activity has been a lot off. Other than disc golf I have not done much. Is disc golf a workout? This brings us to Thanksgiving. As in eat like a little pig Thanksgiving.

This is followed by what is now called Black Friday. The day I stepped on the scale. Ouch! That hurts! This thing can't be right! Can it? It is! F-A-T!

So my plan is to get back to the gym. I have already started lifting weights and have swam once and am headed to the pool tonight. My running is going to have to weight, haha Wait. I'm going to hit the spinner and give that a tri, haha Try. In the past I have found this boring but am willing to give it another shot. All for now, waddling to the pool, quack quack.

Purple Rain

Sunday we traveled to the Cities for a little Purple Rain. As in Brett Favre raining down on the Chicago Bears. Not a good day for Lance but a great day for the Vikings.

Favre had a near perfect day with just under 400 yards through the air! 400! The girls had there time at the Mall of America and then it was time for the Mall of America Field. That's the new name for the MetroDome. How Stupid is that? MOA Field, haha

We need this guy!

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks...

Separately,
Rudd angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. '

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'....'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.

Spandex king at the movies: 2012

We went to see 2012 last night. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I was really disappointed. The Queen on the other hand thought it was great. To me it was just way way way to much Hollywood and special effects. To me it would have been much better if it were at least somewhat believable. So I give it a D. A solid D. To me the only bright spot was Woody Hareldson playing the wacked out DJ. So if you ask me, save your money for the movie rental.

Vacation Idaho!

Had a great time in Idaho with Abbie, Jordan, Adelyn and the new addition, Adric. We were there for the baby blessing. We had a great time. It was a quick out and back but well worth it. The only way it could have been better is if it were in Hawaii, or at least somewhere warmer than Idaho.

Are ya ready for some God?

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it
. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events.... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

Zoom Zoom Zoom!

Operating a motorized recliner while drunk apparently drives up the chair's value. Police in northern Minnesota listed the "DWI chair" on eBay after the owner was arrested for driving it into a parked car last year. It sold Thursday for $10,099.99.

Proctor police Chief Walter Wobig didn't immediately know the winning bidder's name or hometown. He said international media attention helped fuel the bidding.

The chair was built by Dennis LeRoy Anderson. He had pleaded guilty to driving the motorized chair with a blood-alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.

He said he expected the chair would fetch only $2,000 to $3,000.

The recliner is powered by a lawnmower engine. It comes equipped with a stereo, cup holders and lights.

The perfect day for discin!

What a great day! Near 70 and nothing but sun. Ramona and I made our way to Winona to play some disc golf. We ended up playing 36 holes at Saint Mary's. What a fun course. It uses the bluffs and woods and winds around a small creek. A small creek that is always there when you throw a bad shot.
I played pretty good. I shot my best round of the year. Have not played there much this year. I think it was my fourth and fifth round there. The first round I was four over and the second ended with me at one over. I had two awesome birdies in the second round. Almost an eagle on #8! Bounced right off the basket. Church tomorrow and then maybe a quick 18 at Pettibone. Got to get out as much as you can. Cold weather is close at hand.

Ace Race 2009

Had a great time at the disc tournament on Saturday. Never, never, never thought I had a chance of winning the thing. But I did! It was amazing. The tournament ran like this. Everyone received the same two prototype discs to play with. They are brand new discs so nobody gets a chance to practice with them until the day of the tourney. Then you get one shot per hole. If you get a hole in one you get an Ace. If you hit any metal on the basket you receive an M. Holes were between 100 and 200 feet long, most being around 150 feet.

I made two aces and hit two baskets. One guy also had two aces but no hits so I won! For winning I received a nice bag and 10 premium discs! So I'm set! It was a great day!

In the group picture I'm the guy hiding way to the right in the back. This was taken before we started and yes I was nervous as can be about even being there. But one of the guys I bowl with is a pro disc player and told me that the guy you least expect to win will win. So he said I would win! I guess he called it.
